Training Group

For the Training Group 2009 was yet another year of momentum and change.

Thanks to the
tireless efforts of its members, the group was able to make progress on all the action plans arising from the last AFTI training seminar.

Post-trade
activities have been extensively modernised over the last few years and have become much more complex.

To support these developments,
AFTI is focusing on two main themes: developing relations with universities and schools. The main aim is to bring the academic and business worlds closer together. For example, we have surveyed universities and schools to identify which courses were most closely aligned with back-office activities.

We also carried out research into
mapping the needs of our industry. Conducted in conjunction with the French bank training institute, CFPB, the research seeks to identify total headcount requirements – both and present and future – in the post-trade professions in the retail sector from a qualitative and quantitative perspective.

These needs assessments will
pave the way for a more constructive and factual dialogue with universities and schools on resource requirements and upskilling. The results of last year’s activities will be published in the course of 2010 and another AFTI training seminar will be held in June.
