WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The New York Stock Exchange said on Monday it is in talks with U.S. securities regulators to settle allegations the exchange violated rules intended to promote fair competition. The Securities and Exchange Commission's investigation centers on a regulation that prohibits an exchange from sending out data on a private feed to certain clients more quickly than on public data feeds.

Execs aim to create consolidated tape of European equity data Mark Schaedel, former data chief at NYSE Euronext, and Graham Dick, previously with BATS Chi-X Europe, co-founded a consultancy, The COBA Project, to aid creation of a consolidated tape of European equity data. The tape would aggregate prices from all trading venues. A single feed of equity data has been called the industry's most pressing issue. Financial News Online (U.K.) (subscription required)
